Falling Up

Funny book!

Sample poem:

Falling Up

I tripped on my shoelace

And I fell up –

Up to the rooftops,

Up over the town,

Up past the treetops,

Up over the mountains,

Up where the colours

Blend into the sounds.

But it got me so dizzy

When I looked around,

I got sick to my stomach

And I threw down.

Shel Silverstein’s my favourite poet! =) I love his quirky use of the language. When I was teaching, his poems were the best for teaching grammar and word formation. The kids love the lesson on the suffix -able through his ‘Twistable Turnable Man’. πŸ˜‰

  2. I love Shel Silverstein – the poems and illustrations. Used to read them when I was stressed at uni. Always made me happy. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
