The class was In Conversation today with a man I’ve been in awe of since I started working. Something he said which I really liked: “We need people with the courage to be different, and people with humility.” Reminded me about dialogues earlier in the week, about having a spirit of adventure. About our posture of learning. About who we want to be. About Our Story.
These strike me as childlike qualities, no?
Children are more curious than they are fearful. Children are humble because there is much of the world that is unknown to them – and waiting to be discovered! Children see the “who I want to be” question as an adventure to be embarked on. Children see the possibilities, not the problems.
Of course, we can’t stay as children forever. But there is truly much we can learn from children. Our children are our living reminders of the purity of spirit.
