I love being a fly-on-the-wall and observing/listening to conversations.
A subject area I’m not that familiar with. Admire the people working in this area – it sure isn’t easy! There’s a certain ethos for this. Doggedness. Optimism, yet realism. Rootedness – I mean, you’d get knocked over by the slightest wind if you didn’t have a good sense of what you believe in.
It’s a honour to be amongst them this afternoon. Looking forward to it.

Resistance to Change. I learnt a lot from a single article. Did you know that there’s such a thing as a limit to “self-control energy”? This resource can and does get depleted, especially when change happens too frequently. People become psychologically exhausted from moving away from automatic behaviours to new behaviours. And I was always told that not being able to rise to the occasion was a sign of weakness, even not being a team player! So it was probably partly my exhaustion. Well, glad I don’t have to think about that for a while…
Too much of a good thing may be bad. I can attest to that! Part of the learning this year has been about holding what I love closely but loosely. It’s a posture of holy surrender and stewardship that is, strangely, renewing. And much more satisfying than an all-out heart-on-sleeve attitude. At least, that’s what I understand for now…
