Was very glad to be able to serve 2 mentors and their group this afternoon.
I owe a lot of my understanding of questions, answers and listening to these 2 mentors. What they have done for me, is an important part of the foundation upon which I can do what I now do 🙂
On the surface, JE and AE appear to be just teaching techniques. But if you take time to think more deeply about what they’re doing, you realise they are also advocating a way of looking at and being curious about life in general.
Asking questions. Listening well. Having a conversation.
What’s there to learn about that? Isn’t it just… talking??
There are ways to ask questions that allow you to fully appreciate a situation, a piece of material, a person, a place, an event, an issue, a dream. Such ways make you throw away your assumptions… remove your blinkers… pluck up courage to examine your emotive reactions… and challenge you to do something about what you unearth.
The same ways apply to listening as well. Listen for what’s obvious. Listen to what’s not said. Listen to how others filter what is seen and felt. Listen to the decisions they make.
Ask well and listen well = good conversation 🙂
