I love meeting with A. Our journeys have strong parallels, yet they are also very different in other ways.
But we come to the same conclusions about God, who we are in Him, and how we are to live. And we are filled with unspeakable joy and gratitude at every recounting. Recounting of surprises, dis-appointments, deliverance and provision. As she would say, we celebrate our littleness in the midst of God’s bigness. And we stand upon His promises and perfect timing in all things, for His purposes.
She is one of very few friends who truly understands and loves “being“, as I do. Who dares to go into the shadows of self, in order to emerge with light, as I do. And it has often been because of her tender candour that I’ve been wrested from many a danger – a trusted perspective and safe, restorative presence.
Mercy is not receiving what we do deserve; grace is receiving what we don’t deserve.
Tinged with sadness today, because by the time I next meet A, things will surely have changed a lot again. The next 4 months are set to be transformative and defining ones for both of us – in different ways and very different locations, but I’m confident we will once again be sharing joyous discoveries about who God is and how crazy He is about us… and how we are made to be just as crazy about Him 🙂 … I’m glad to have the privilege of praying for her as she continues her journey, and knowing she is doing the same.
We shopped/ran errands like men today – very focused, efficient and decisive.
Haha. It was rewarding in its own ways.
Have a good themed party, my dear – it was so much fun doing that kind of nonsense shopping!
Really sweet of you to be doing this 🙂
