Laid the groundsheet once more. An open space, very open space, yet also private and intimate. We gathered, and it was good.
Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. – 2 Cor 12:8-9
Thorns in our flesh.
The suffering of waiting and unanswered prayer yields something that is priceless. An understanding of who God is. A shaping of our hearts; refining of our desires/hopes. Realising that God is always at work – but in His time and ways. We often do not see, while we are in the midst of the storm/desert. But when He finally puts the last piece in place, the scales fall from our eyes, and we are filled with immeasurable joy & praise for the way He has woven the threads. (Deeper) Healing is complete.
Cancer. Treatment. Dark nights, long prayers. When strength faded to black… ” there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Rom 8:1)
Backslided spouse. Prayers that seemed to only make things worse. When nothing works… ” What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?” (Luke 15:4). As it turned out, God was after 2, not 1, sheep.
Betrayal. Within the church. A broken family. Countless whys. When reason fails and tears have run dry… the Lord revives.
“Whatever was meant to be bad, actually turned out to be good.”
Indeed. God’s endings surprise us.
When it’s more than we can take… He reaches into the deep places where we fear to go – and does more than we think possible.
