“Give ourselves new ways of behaving and believing.”

We all live by scripts.

Some consciously, some not. Some of these scripts are healthy; others are hazardous. Like it or not, these scripts profoundly influence how we choose, think, feel, act and perceive things and people. The most harmless scripts can cause us to waste unnecessary money & time keeping up certain appearances. The most harmful scripts can cause our relationships with others to forever linger in the pit of irreconciliation. On the flipside, even the smallest healthy script has the power to inspire and guard our wondering and wandering minds and hearts – towards truth and love.

What do we do with our scripts?

A good first step is awareness.

Another good step is intentionality.

Taken with good doses of courage, faith and perseverance.

We may not be able to do much about the consequences of scripts from the deep past, but by God’s grace and empowering, we can change the scripts we’ll live by – from this point forward. We also have much to give thanks for – the heritage of good scripts which show us how to live holy lives pleasing to God. And also for the people who faithfully live out these scripts, in spite of their pain, struggles and sacrifices.

Past scripts we grew up with.

Redeemed by His completed work on the Cross.

Present scripts that we see and find disconcerting.

By His mercy, He reveals level paths.

Future scripts that have yet to be written.

He is our unshakeable Hope.

I thank God that He is the Author of my life. Wait upon Him for scripts.
