Final class yesterday. PY bought celebratory snacks for us. Was funny, because we’d bought cakes for a surprise celebration for his birthday today! 🙂 So we had our fill before we got down to work.
Final class – making a dummy book. Mock up of a something that we might like to get published. We were free to choose any of the styles we’d learnt – or even others that we’d seen but not practised in class. I went back to Chinese ink, one of my faves.
A dummy book, I realised, is no dumb task. It’s hard work!
Still. Good fun. And I think about the little ones I’m making it for 🙂
It’s going to feel weird for a while – an empty space on Thursdays. Not that I have nothing to do – there are tons to catch up on! But it has been good to have a different space once a week, to learn something new. We’d go in every Thursday not quite knowing what to expect – and just create on the spot. Our studio was messy by most counts, but in a very go-ahead-and-experiment-all-you-want kind of way. Quiet, no pressures and sometimes just downright funny for no particular reason. Exactly what’s needed, away from regular madness, logic and expectations.
