Love Always Prevails (II)

Standing in the present, only the good from the past comes to mind.

The bad/difficult pale in comparison – fade when faced with the power of remembered and continued kindness & grace.

Continued kindness & grace humbled and encouraged me today.

They had no reason to – no longer need to – but they took the time.

Because that’s who they are as people: they care.

I’m so proud to say I worked for and with them.

But also because of them, today my eras collided.

Big chunks of my past, gathered in one room. Flashes in chronological disorder.

Amazed that I can still remember the settings, sounds, smells, encounters, jokes – in detail.

The walls echo with stories that only I hear.  The room rich with symbols that only I see. The rhythm of thought holding together a tune that only I sing.

Like watching a replay of my life.

Like I’ve been here before. In many ways, I have. And yet not.

Standing in the present, only the good from the past comes to mind.

The greatest good that came to mind: God has been the same all the while.

In the present which I now call past. In the present which I’m living by grace. In the present which I call future because I can’t see yet.

His Love has prevailed.

Holy Spirit, Living Breath of God (Keith & Kristyn Getty)

Holy Spirit, living Breath of God,
Breathe new life into my willing soul.
Bring the presence of the risen Lord
To renew my heart and make me whole.
Cause Your Word to come alive in me;
Give me faith for what I cannot see;
Give me passion for Your purity.
Holy Spirit, breathe new life in me.

Holy Spirit, come abide within;
May Your joy be seen in all I do—
Love enough to cover ev’ry sin
In each thought and deed and attitude,
Kindness to the greatest and the least,
Gentleness that sows the path of peace.
Turn my striving into works of grace.
Breath of God, show Christ in all I do.

Holy Spirit, from creation’s birth,
Giving life to all that God has made,
Show your power once again on earth;
Cause Your church to hunger for Your ways.
Let the fragrance of our prayers arise.
Lead us on the road of sacrifice
That in unity the face of Christ
Will be clear for all the world to see.
