On hindsight, the crossiant was really the best thing to have had this morning.
The last time I met LW face to face was at least 4 years ago. In the time between, we’ve kept in touch sporadically. Mostly, we heard from each other when there were transitions – when we moved from one professional season to another.
The story of how we met back then, bears testament to the mysteries of God’s ways. We were, after all, in such different work universes. Our paths would never have crossed. If it weren’t for that book. And crazy courage that led me to blatantly pursue a connection. On her part, LW was brave too – deciding to strengthen the connection although she came up against objections.
When LW wrote again recently and floated the idea that she did, my interest was piqued. So we met this morning at a place I’ve been wanting to see, near the TBM. My, there was so much to say! She has an inspiring story. A story of standing by personal convictions; of the gift of contentment; the bigness and artistry of God; and of wakefulness… recognising what truly matters.
“You come to a crossroads – and you have to choose between the material world, and who you want to be. … Contentment – it really is a gift. A lot of people don’t get it.”
“And I told her, we have a surprising God.”
“So interesting – much of what you’ve been telling me… parallels what I learnt during my year out.”
