“I spent quite a bit of time reflecting, after the appt.
Dr. Grace’s small gestures of human-ness (maybe unconsciously!) had a big impact. The last 2 weeks had taken almost all the wind out of my sails, and frankly, I was hanging on with a few limp ropes of faith and drifting along a dark stream. Even as I spent time – in mind & heart – remembering the hope of Advent. The contrast with the surrounding joyous festive mood was quite stark.
She may not have cured me or changed anything dramatically today, but because of who she chose to be, I caught a glimpse of what is good, excellent, praiseworthy, right, and true. It was enough to rekindle what had been beaten down to embers. That, is healing too.
Dr. Grace indeed.
You never know when you might be a Dr. Grace to someone you meet, just by the choices you make about who you will be in coming moments or hours. You couldn’t know, and you’d never guess how much it’ll matter.
God give us grace, to carry the hope of Advent and Christmas in our being.”
