A believing life (18): 望 Hope

望 .

Look.

Hope.

“The startling hope and mystery of the Incarnation is that it reorders the world we know—visually, physically, restoratively, eternally. Where there is despair, where there is joy, where there is need, Christ is living in its midst. Where there is a heart that prepares him room, the Spirit has already transformed life in his image. Come, Desire of nations, come; fix in us thy humble home. These cries have been heard. The vault of heaven is open.” (RZIM)

“Believer, go to the throne for a large supply of heavenly salt. It will season thine afflictions, which are unsavoury without salt; it will preserve thy heart which corrupts if salt be absent, and it will kill thy sins even as salt kills reptiles.” (Spurgeon, Morning reading, December 13)

Keep your hopes high, for the day of the Lord’s coming is near. – James 5:8 (GNT)

View the Present Through the Promise

View the present through the promise,
Christ will come again.
Trust despite the deepening darkness,
Christ will come again.
Life the world above its grieving
through your watching and believing
In the hope past hope’s conceiving:
Christ will come again.

Probe the present with the promise,
Christ will come again.
Let your daily actions witness,
Christ will come again.
Let your loving and your giving
and your justice and forgiving
Be a sign to all the living:
Christ will come again.

Match the present to the promise,
Christ will come again.
Make this hope your guiding premise,
Christ will come again.
Pattern all your calculating
and the world you are creating
To the advent your are waiting:
Christ will come again.
